3 easy drum songs you can play today.

Check out the drum key.  This tells you what voices of the instrument to play and the drum part names.
With and drum groove that we play, try to equalize the volume between all of the voices of the instrument to blend in perfectly with the song.  For example, we don’t necessarily want to hit all the voices with the same amount of force.  We may need to play the hi-hat quieter so the snare can stand out more and the bass drum powerful enough to drive the song/band but not over doing it.

1. Another One Bites The Dust – Queen

Drummer – Roger Taylor

The first drum chart we’ll take a look at is “Anthony One Bites The Dust” by Queen.

For the most part you will be playing 1/8th notes on the hi-hat, bass drum on all 4s and snare drum on 2 & 4.
There are 2 bass notes to start the song, then you’re in!  Try to equalize the volume of all the voices to blend in perfectly with the song.

Here is the drum chart for “Another One Bites The Dust”.

2. Hardest Button To Button – 7 Nation Army

Drummer – Meg White

Drum chart for Hardest Button To Button.

“Hardest Button To Button” starts off with bass drum only, on all fours.  Starting at bar 3 the floor tom plays on all fours as well.  So the bass drum and floor tom are playing unison at bar 3.
Bar 5 the main groove comes in by playing crash cymbals hits on all fours, snare drum on 2 & 4 and a bass drum hit on beat 1 and on the 3 +.  Right after, (starting bar 6), you will play the shots.  The shots are bass drum, floor tom and hi-tom.

There are 4 drum parts to the song.

  1. Bass drum only
  2. Bass drum and floor tom
  3. Crash cymbal groove
  4. Tom shots, (starting bar 6)
