So, your little one wants to start Guitar Lessons!
Questions we get asked a lot are:
- “Is my child old enough’?
- “The guitar we have seems too big”
- “Can we start on electric guitar”?
Where Do We Start?
We start guitar students off as young as 5 years old. Any younger than 5, we recommend that they start on ukulele, as the instrument is smaller an easier for the student to reach all the frets.

Acoustic Vs Electric Guitar
Most younger students do start off on acoustic guitar. But, we’ve had great success with younger ones starting off on electric guitar as well. Our goal is to ensure the size of the guitar is correct and have the student decide on which one feels more comfortable to play, and which one sounds better to them. You want to ensure your child is comfortable playing the instrument, and that your guitar sounds good, and stays in tune.
Make guitar lessons and practicing the best and most fun experience your child can have.
Your first meeting with us.
- Our first meeting will include us having one of our guitar instructors fitting your little one with the proper size guitar.
- We will ensure your child can comfortably reach all the frets and have their arm over top of the guitar, (without your little one wanting to play the guitar flat on their lap).
We also strongly recommend having the student use and purchase a guitar foot stool. A guitar foot stool will make it easier for your little to balance and play the guitar.
Rent Or Buy?
For kids staring guitar lessons for the first time, we recommend renting. Our rentals start at $8/mth, and 100% of the first year’s rental can go towards the purchase if you decide to do so. We find that this is generally the best option as, if your little one wants to change instruments, you’re not stuck trying sell a guitar.
