Through the Drums for Moms program, moms can enjoy learning a fun activity with their child in a non-competitive environment, and experience the feeling of accomplishment when learning full songs. Drumming can be a form of meditation, and the Drums for Moms program will give moms the chance to unwind and re-focus with their child. Join anytime. Daytime and evening classes available. Our orchestral percussion program offers professional studies for any student wanting to join band, in band or at a University level.  We cover mallets (marimba, vibes, xylophone, and bells), timpani, orchestral/rudimental snare drum, and auxiliary percussion (tambourine, triangle, castanets, shakers, cabassa, guiros, etc.).  Students are provided with lots of performance opportunities as well as connecting students who are perusing music with community orchestras and University’s.  High school students in grades 9 to 12 are eligible to receive up to four additional credits throughout high school if practical and theory exam requirements are met.

Groove Academy offers a wide variety of Hand Drum Programs. To sign up you don’t need a hand drum, just stop by and have some fun. We have lots of hand drums on site. Groove Academy offers Djembe group classes and well as one on one. Get ready for folk fest anytime of the year!!

The Ten-Week Percussion program is a one-on-one program that covers all orchestral percussion instruments, techniques and equally as important, theory and how to read notation. Any student wanting to join band should take this course because the program will give you an in-depth study of snare drum, mallets, timpani, hand percussion giving you the confidence that is needed to play in band.  After completing the Ten-Week Percussion Program you will also have the option of one on one lessons.

Joining our Drumline program offers an opportunity for percussionists to further be challenged on their instrument. The program is rigorous and demands absolute focus and discipline from every player.  Therefore, every player in the group becomes a vital link in our sound and reputation. Our goal is to become well disciplined, respectful, intelligent, highly technical and musical musicians. The Drumline promotes students to write out exercises, cadences and compositions for themselves and for the group via Virtual Drumline software. Drumline positions include snare drum, bass drum, multi toms, cymbals, and mallets.

We perform regularly throughout the year and encourage you to join us.

Our Full-Time Drum Course is a 6 month program of intense study intended for the serious and or career minded. As a result of many Universities focusing primarily on Orchestral percussion, our focus is on the many aspects of drumming and drum history. The course includes theoretical and practical studies along with live performances and article submissions to some of the top drumming/percussion magazines and websites in our industry. In addition, students will learn to demonstrate proficiency in all genres, rudiments, percussion basics, soloing, odd time signatures, tuning, recording, working with a drum machine, electric drums, programing, double bass, and more. The course runs from September-February and March-August. Classes are Monday to Friday from 9:30am-3:00pm.

Upon completion, a certificate is given with a mark 75% or higher. Full course details and tuition info can be mailed or emailed out.

Groove Academy’s 5 Day Intensive Percussion Camp, held on the 2nd week of July, covers all aspects of orchestral percussion. Student will learn Theory, Rudiments, Snare drum, Timpani, Mallets, Drum set, and Auxiliary percussion. We also cover the basics of Jazz drumming along with grip techniques and listening examples.  Every day focuses on a different percussion instrument with a full review of the day before.   In addition to the above, students will experience tons of group playing, demonstration and will conclude the camp with a written and practical test that awards the student with a certificate of completion.
